Membership
and volunteer organizations provide critical support
to the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, the membership primarily
through their financial support and the volunteer
through the manpower and skills they bring to provide
assistance on tasks and projects beyond that which
the Battleship's limited staff could accomplish themselves.
The Battleship
NORTH CAROLINA is most fortunate to have two types
of affiliate organizations that provide a most valuable
service to us. There are two membership organizations,
the Friends of the Battleship North Carolina which
is open to individuals or businesses interested in
financially supporting the Battleship, and the Battleship
Association which is the World War II crewmembers'
membership organization. Our volunteer organizations
contribute in many ways to provide manpower and/or
skills beyond that which the Battleship staff provides.
Some volunteers, such as our local high school Navy
Junior ROTC units and a ham radio club, have unique
membership or skill requirements. Others, such as
the Living History Crew and the Volunteer program
are open to those with varied interests and skills.
