| The
Battleship North Carolina is the most decorated U.S. battleship
of World War II and a National Historical Landmark. This grand
lady, known as The Showboat, deserves special recognition
and support.
The
Friends of the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA was incorporated
as a non-profit organization in the State of North Carolina
in 1987. Under the Internal Revenue Service Code, it is a
taxexempt, 501c(3) organization whose role is to support the
Museum Department and promote the preservation of the Battleship.
Members os the Friends form a special circle of caring people
who join forces to enhance the unique opportunity to reach
out and touch World War II, an era which is, arguably, the
most significant period of our National and world history
in the 20th Century.
Friends
fund exhibits, interpretation, educational programs, and a
summer intern program. They also purchase artifacts, other
accessions, computers and peripherals, and other equipment
for the Museum Department.
In
return for their support, the friends receive free admission
to the ship for a year, a newsletter to keep them informed
of happenings at the Battleship, a 10% discount in the Ship's
Store, invitations to exhibit openings and other ceremonies,
and discounts to special events.
We
invite you to enlist in the Friends of the Battleship NORTH
CAROLINA.
