The initial impetus behind the statewide effort to save the Battleship was to establish her as the State of North Carolina's official World War II memorial. The primary way in which that mission is fulfilled is by the Roll of Honor.

The Roll of Honor displays the names of the more than 10,000 North Carolinians from all branches of the armed forces who died in service to their State and Country during World War II. The names are grouped by the county from which they enlisted, and all 100 counties in the State are recognized.

This display is located in the Battleship's Wardroom on the Main Deck and it is wheelchair accessible.
