Sharing Our Story
One Generation to the Next
The Battleship NORTH CAROLINA is a powerful symbol of our gratitude and pride for those who served in World War II and for all who serve in our nation's armed forces and their families.
It is our state's memorial to the 10,000 North Carolinians who died during World War II. It is a powerful testimonial to those who continue to give their lives in support of our freedom today.
The NORTH CAROLINA is a living classroom where students, teachers, and families share our history and much more. The Battleship and surrounding Eagles Island provide an exciting learning environment to teach science, math, and engineering.
And our Battleship is an economic engine for tourism, jobs, and the economy, attracting more than 250,000 visitors each year.
The Generations Campaign is a Call to All Hands to actively support this treasured monument as a powerful place to share our history and introduce the call to duty - to teach, to learn, and to serve.
Join Us! All Hands on Deck!
The Need is Real
Bow repairs, currently underway, have proven that the need for a entire hull repair is crucial. Breaches are patched, but the once mighty steel is now paper thin in spots at the water line. Workers can push through spots with their fingers.
The Generations Campaign will repair the hull, utilizing a cofferdam system and add extra benefit to tours and Eagles Island trails to keep the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA proud as a memorial and year-round event and educational attraction.
