One level
above the Main Deck is the Captain's Cabin. The main area of the
suite served as his dining area and office. Just forward of it is
his stateroom and bath as well as a small galley. The Captain used
this cabin except when in a combat area which required his presence
on the Bridge so much so that he had a secondary, sea cabin just
aft of the Bridge. Beyond his personal use, the cabin was appropriate
for small formal functions when the captain was required to host
dignitaries. For larger functions, the Wardroom was chosen.
The
Battleship was designed to be able to support an embarked flag officer
and his staff. Two levels above the Main Deck is the Admiral's Cabin.
Just as with the Captain's Cabin, the main area of the suite is
the admiral's dining area and office and just forward is his stateroom
and bath and a small galley.
While
neither of these cabins can be entered, visitors can view the cabins
through the portholes and windows.
