The 2008 4th of July Celebration and the Battleship Blast are brought to you by the City of Wilmington, U.S. Cellular, Food Lion, WECT TV-6 and the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA along with media partner Cumulus Broadcasting.

The City of Wilmington proudly presents 440th North Carolina Army National Guard Band featuring the Minute Men, Concert Band and the Jazz Patriots to provide entertainment at Riverfront Park in front of the Federal Courthouse on Water Street between Market Street and Princess Street. So head Downtown for fun and food from 5:00pm-9:00pm.

At 9:05pm the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA hosts the 12th Annual “BATTLESHIP BLAST” fireworks spectacular, the largest in the Coastal Carolinas! This production by PYRO SHOWS, an international award-winning pyrotechnics company, is guaranteed to dazzle residents and visitors alike. Bring the entire family and enjoy an explosive evening!

PRIMARY VIEWING FOR THE FIREWORKS WILL BE FROM DOWNTOWN.

Battleship at Sunset

For those viewing the fireworks along the river bring your radios and tune in to WGNI 102.7 FM. Pyro Show’s choreographed fireworks spectacular will be simulcast to music on WGNI 102.7 FM. For those not able to be downtown, WECT TV-6 will broadcast the “BATTLESHIP BLAST” live from 9:00pm-9:30pm. (Regularly scheduled TV and radio programming will resume at 9:30pm.)

Due to safety requirements, the entire Battleship complex on Eagles Island will be closed at 6:00pm and all vehicles will be required to leave by 6:30pm.

Therefore, come early and visit the equally impressive Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, the most decorated US Battleship of WWII. Have an historic adventure you won’t forget! Open Everyday!
