Presented by the State of North Carolina to the Armored Cruiser NORTH CAROLINA (ACR-12) in 1907, this 120 plus piece presentation silver service was also used by the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA (BB-55) during WWII and selected pieces will be used by the Submarine NORTH CAROLINA (SSN-777).

Presentation Silver - U.S. Navy presentation silver made for the commissioning of the Armored Cruiser NORTH CAROLINA. In August 1907 the North Carolina General Assembly authorized the purchase of the silver. It was ordered from H. Mahler Silversmiths, Raleigh, NC and manufactured by Dominick & Haff, New York. The set consists of a punch bowl, ladle, punch cups, two electrified candelabras, serving trays, coffee pot, tea pot, standing tea kettle, creamer, sugar bowl, waste bowl, water pitcher, glass wine carafes, wine coasters, finger bowls, plates, cigar lamp, and match holders. Distinguishing design features include: seal of the Great State of North Carolina and seal of the Navy Department; American eagle; native NC plants such as tobacco, cotton bolls, long leaf pine bows; rope for edging and other design accents; nautical accents such as octopus, fish, and sea shells. There were originally 121 pieces and the museum collection has 114 of them.
