Perfect for –
- Orientation for groups visiting the ship
- Senior groups
- Groups whose participants have limited mobility.
Like a friendly back porch, this program invites guests to learn about the ship from the comfort of the Visitor Center’s “back porch.” Guests enjoy a taste of the Battleship without physically coming aboard. The program lasts approximately one hour.
After guests arrive, they will view the 10-minute introductory film in the Visitor Center Auditorium. Following the movie, they will have a guided tour of the Visitor Center Exhibit Hall which features models of the four US Navy vessels and one Confederate Navy ironclad named NORTH CAROLINA. The next stop is the Ship’s Observation Deck where they can sit in chairs, look at the Ship, and engage with a guide who will discuss the Ship and answer questions.
Guests are then welcome to purchase snacks and enjoy them in Ship’s Coca-Cola Canteen or shop in the Showboat Shop.
The cost of the program is $50 and the maximum number of participants is 20. The program is available October through mid-May. It must be prepaid and scheduled at least a month in advance.
We welcome inquiries and look forward to having you “sit a spell” on the “back porch.”
