MILITARY EDUCATION PROGRAM – MEET THE SHOWBOAT

Designed for general military groups and JROTC, this program consists of a 45-minute Power Point presentation on the Battleship (history, mission, firepower, sustainability) in the Visitor Center Auditorium with time for questions and answers. Participants then enjoy the self-guided tour of the Battleship.

Scheduling details:

  • The program may be scheduled on weekdays from 0900 to 1500.
  • Programs must be scheduled four to six weeks in advance.
  • Minimum of 15 participants are required; maximum of 75 participants.
  • Fee is $15 per person includes presentation AND ship admission.
  • Confirmation requires pre-payment.
  • Cancellation must be received 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
  • Less than 48 hour cancellation receives no refund

PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION PROGRAM – A CUSTOMIZED APPROACH

The Battleship is pleased to offer a two-hour customized military education program for the professional in uniform. This program targets military visitors who desire a more in-depth look at specific aspects of battleship operations during WWII. Whether the specialty is artillery, gunfire support, fire control, propulsion/electrical, communications, medical, supply, legal or chaplain corps, we are happy to work with your group to develop a program lasting approximately two hours.

Presentations may include:

  • Behind-the-scenes look in the ship’s archives
  • Behind-the scenes tour of appropriate spaces

Scheduling details:

  • The program is offered weekdays, October through May.
  • Programs must be scheduled six to eight weeks in advance.
  • Program duration is approximately two hours.
  • Minimum of 12 participants are required; maximum 24
  • Fee is $15 per person and DOES NOT include ship admission.
  • Confirmation requires pre-payment.
  • Cancellation must be received 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
  • Less than 48 hour cancellation receives no refund.

OUR HERITAGE AFLOAT: A GUIDED TOUR OF THE SHOWBOAT

Called the Showboat, this floating warrior was a well-fortified city-at-sea with over 2,000 men ready for battle stations. Let a Battleship volunteer share their knowledge and pride of the ship with your group.

  • Tours are for groups of no more than 10 people.
  • Tours last approximately 2 ½ hours.
  • Program fee is $20 per person and includes admission fee.
  • Reservations must be made 4-6 weeks in advance.
