Lesson 4 - Cultural Diversity II


Subject: Language Arts - Grade Level: 4,5,6


Objective

The student will compare and contrast the living and working conditions of the white enlisted man with that of African-American enlisted men.

Materials

  • Battleship enlisted men’s oral history transcripts
  • Battleship Website

Activities/Procedures

Student will read oral history transcripts and examine the differences in living and working conditions for white enlisted men and African-American enlisted men. Students will then write a narrative comparing/contrasting these differences.

Assessment

Evaluation/feedback and student self-assessment.
